Théophile Gautier: Journey to Russia

The classic French writer Théophile Gautier (1811–1872) visited Russia twice. He visited Moscow and St. Petersburg in the winter of 1858–59. In the summer of 1861, the writer sailed from Tver to Nizhny Novgorod. This book is a poetic and colorful account of Gautier's impressions of his travels in Russia. Translated from the French by N.V.
