What has happened to Russia in the last thirty years since the collapse of the Soviet Union? What turn have events taken in the country? What factors have led to Russia becoming what it is today? What can Russia expect in the future? Often, an outside perspective allows us to bring other aspects into consideration, opens up the possibility of a more comprehensive analysis, and helps to clarify the picture of what is happening. The famous German author Olaf Kühl, who for many years was an advisor to the Governing Mayor of Berlin on Russia, collects the most dramatic events of the last decades in Russia and supplements them with his personal observations and assessment. As in a mirror, a rich image of Russia emerges with an accurate and profound description and analysis of what is happening.
