This book of short stories by Kharkiv-based writer Andriy Krasnyashchikh, an award-winning writer from international publications, was written under Russian bombs falling on Kharkiv and then in neighboring Poltava, where there are more displaced persons than local residents. It explores what was seen, heard, and experienced, telling the story of everyday life during wartime. One of the stories' protagonists is the writer's ten-year-old daughter, whose school essay, "How My Life Changed with the Coming of War," formulates the book's central theme. The narrator describes how the war changed everything: himself, his daughter, who suddenly matured from a child into a teenager, his habits, his feelings, and the way people treated each other, which became more caring and protective.
