Boris Belenkin, Memorial. The Taken House

Memorial is a network of public organizations dedicated to human rights and the history of victims of Soviet repression. When the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Memorial, Boris Belenkin was in a Moscow courthouse, defending a lawsuit filed by the prosecutor's office that had seized the organization's premises.

This book is not the history of Memorial, but the story of a man, Boris Belenkin, a longtime employee of Memorial and its longtime librarian. This publication tells the story of his illustrious life, which, full of humor and sadness, brought him to Memorial and never let him go.
