Joseph M. Coetzee. Dishonor

For his novel "Disgrace," South African Coetzee was awarded the 1999 Booker Prize.

The book's plot, as always with Coetzee, is twisted and dizzying: a 52-year-old professor at the University of Cape Town, accused of harassing a student, his daughter, who is being abused by black Aboriginal people, and the opera the professor is composing about Byron and the great poet's Italian lover, with whom the protagonist identifies himself...

Life is chaotic and terrible, and only art can resolve any conflicts and problems.
