"The Dream Haven" is Remarque's first novel in which there is not a word about the war.

Germany in the 1920s. The inhabitants of the "Dream Haven"—the home of the talented artist and composer Fritz—are far removed from the difficulties of real life. Will the young people be able to cope with the death of their friend and accept his approach to life and art?

The novel "Gam" also belongs to the writer's early period, before he had yet to establish himself as a realist. It is an attempt to penetrate the psychology of a free woman who travels to the most remote corners of Southeast Asia in search of exotic experiences and passions.

"Station on the Horizon" outlines the main themes that would later become key to Remarque's works. Race car drivers—idols of the public and society beauties—live on adrenaline and earn big money while risking their lives. But the helmets of the "kings of racing" conceal the weary faces of members of the "lost generation," who have never recovered from the horror of the First World War.
