In the mid-90s of the last century, my fathers emigrated to the USA. I lost myself in Kharkov. Before my father Semyon Ladizhensky left, he wrote the song “The house from which I am...” with the refrain: “The house from which I do not want to leave...”

In 1998, together with fellow Kharkiv resident Andriy Valentinov, we wrote the novel “We Have to Live Here.” At the end of the novel, tanks will march towards Kharkov from the side of Bilgorod, and in the future the terrible words will sound: “We are Misto! Mi - gynemo! It all sounded like a hundred-hundred-hundred-fifty fantasy.
