Reinhard Krumm. Isaac Babel. Biography

Critics called Isaac Babel's stories "pearls of post-revolutionary Russian literature," and he himself was hailed as "one of the greatest prose writers of the 20th century." Babel's works have been translated into many languages. The renowned German critic Marcel Reich-Ranicki opined that in 1933, Babel could have won the Nobel Prize in Literature—just like his fellow countryman, laureate Ivan Bunin.
