Susan Sontag, Patterns of Unrelenting Will

Patterns of Unrequited Will (1969) is a collection of essays in which Susan Sontag extends the scope of the research undertaken in her famous book Against Interpretation (1966).
This collection includes texts on art, literature, film, and politics that are rightfully considered the most striking examples of 20th-century critical thought. These include the now-classic essays "The Aesthetics of Silence," a brilliant analysis of language, thought, and spirituality in art, and "A Trip to Hanoi," written in June and July 1968 following a nearly month-long stay in Vietnam.
